AGRITURISMO I BONSI
A turreted castle a few kilometres away from the Vallombrosa Abbey. A striking glimpse of Chianti is enjoyed from Tenuta I Bonsi, a manor owned by the Budini Gattai family that, since 1400, produces an extra virgin olive oil certified among the best in the area. Built in the fifteenth century as a fortified residence of the Bonsi della Ruota family, in the seventeenth century it was turned into a convent and finally, in 1876, it was purchased by the Budini Gattai, who wanted to make it a neo-Gothic country house, according to the designs of Raffaello Sorbi, architect
"One thing, however, has remained unchanged, following a deeply rooted tradition dating back to the 1400s - explains Rodolfo Budini Gattai, co-owner of the estate – it’s the production of extra virgin olive oil, which is now produced in a modern continuous cycle plant which enhances its organoleptic and nutritional properties ".
For those wishing to know the products and the estate (half an hour's drive from Florence), the six apartments of the farmhouse are perfectly equipped for a pleasant and relaxing stay, perhaps enjoying a dip in the pool, a visit to the frescoes by Masaccio in the nearby church of Cascia or, even better, a tasting of farm products.
