PELLEGRINAIO DEL POGGIO
The Pellegrinaio del Poggio is situated along the Via Francigena where the Cassia Road passes through the small village of Torrenieri, the XIII stay of Sigeric on his return to Canterbury, England, in 990 A.D.
The village is in the Val d’Orcia Park (Unesco World Heritage) near by Crete Senesi and Mount Amiata. Starting from Torrenieri it is possible to arrange historical, artistic, cultural and eno-gastronomic itineraries discovering the treasures of the area: Siena, Montalcino, San Quirico d’Orcia, Asciano, Buonconvento, Pienza, Montepulciano, the Abbeys of Monte Oliveto Maggiore and Sant’Antimo.
The guesthouse is located in a strategic position, easily reached by foot (by the via Francigena) or by public transport. The bus stop, ATM, the supermarket, bars, restaurants and the pharmacy are in close proximity to it.
The apartment is in a modern building at the border of the village, in a good position that offers beautiful views of the countryside. The building and the private garden are in front of the pilgrim route and the ancient Posta (an old stay of the village) of il Poggio. This ancient building is now a winery that offer visit and wine tasting.
The guesthouse provides one triple room, one double room and a queen bed room, thus offering different choices to the guest. The common spaces are: the kitchen, the hall and the taverna which are perfect places to share travel experiences. Finally, at the back of the house, the private garden presents stunning sunset views.
We offer preferential rates for pilgrims with accreditation and Guesthouse service for all Val d'Orcia’s lovers.
We would be delighted to welcome you and to provide all the information you need for a pleasant stay and a good journey.
